Creative director Motofumi “Poggy” Kogi has announced the debut of his first collection under the label Dear Boro, set to launch for the Spring/Summer 2026 season. The brand is founded on a philosophy of “essentiality,” emphasizing Japanese craftsmanship where young artisans invest significant time and skill into every garment. Dear Boro merges historical sewing techniques and the inherent beauty of materials with the dynamic, free-spirited cultures that have influenced Poggy throughout his career in global fashion.
The first collection, “Made in Japan – 2026 First Collection,” highlights the tactile quality of denim, powerful graphic elements, and delicate details produced by artisanal hands. The aesthetic draws upon a uniquely Japanese sense of finding beauty in imperfection—a tradition where “Noragi” (workwear) was historically reinforced with hand-sewn patches, turning “Boro” (tattered rags) into a form of art. This intersection of tradition and innovation proposes a new style that connects Japan with the rest of the world.
To commemorate the launch, rapper SHO (Shohei Yokota) has produced an original music video for “Dear Boro,” which began streaming on Friday, January 30, 2026. The track integrates traditional Japanese sounds—including the shakuhachi, koto, and wadaiko—with contemporary beats to mirror the brand’s concept of “Wa” (Japanese harmony) meeting modernity. The video features a diverse cast of models from various creative fields, including graphic designers, professional skateboarders, and chefs, further emphasizing the brand’s connection to multi-faceted urban culture.
