On Saturday, July 26, creative director and community curator Uchi partnered with Salomon Sportstyle to host a one-day community event in the lobby of Ace Hotel Kyoto.

As part of the hotel’s ongoing “SLOW SERIES” program, Uchi led a natural dye workshop using botanical ingredients. Over 150 participants attended, dyeing Salomon socks and tenugui cloths with plant-based colorants inspired by pine leaves. Each person created a personalized piece, blending natural hues with a distinctive graphic design motif.

The event also saw the debut of the RX Slide 3.0 UCHI, a special collaboration between Uchi and Salomon. This exclusive version of Salomon Sportstyle’s recovery shoe features graphics inspired by pine needles and was produced in an edition of just 100 non-commercial pairs. A select group of attendees received the shoes as a surprise gift.

The evening concluded with a reception at Stumptown Coffee Roasters on the ground floor of Ace Hotel Kyoto. A longtime partner of the hotel and renowned for its craft coffee, Stumptown offered cocktails and food specially created for the event.

Uchi chose Ace Hotel Kyoto as the venue for its unique blend of Western architecture and Japanese craftsmanship. Deeply inspired by the hotel’s integration of the historic ShinPuhKan building, Uchi found it to be the perfect setting to present this culturally rooted, community-focused event.
