Inside the Dream Capsule: MASU and SOLAKZADE® on Their Creative Bond

Masu and Solakzade come together for the Dream Capsule Collaboration, blending years of friendship into a lineup of silk pieces and vintage-inspired eyewear. Launching in Osaka this September.

The collaboration between Masu and Solakzade was born from a long-standing connection. Shinpei Goto, then still a student at Bunka Fashion College, began visiting Solakzade as a regular customer, where the Okamoto brothers were often present. Goto later invited them to his early exhibitions, and in turn they supported him by wearing and purchasing his designs. Tatsuya Okamoto recalls that the pieces were so well received, even strangers would ask about them, sparking the idea to update one of those designs together.

Over the years, Goto continued to visit the shop and deepen the relationship, even making it a tradition to purchase one piece each season during fashion week in Paris. What fascinated him most about Solakzade was the element of surprise—the sense that beyond what was displayed, the staff would bring out unexpected treasures, creating an experience as much as a purchase.

Both Masu and Solakzade share what they call a “dreamy” quality. Masu is more than a brand producing cool clothing; it carries warmth, heart, and a sense of romance that resonates deeply with younger generations. Solakzade, while at first glance commanding and almost solemn, reveals humor and a dreamlike spirit beneath the surface—an affinity that naturally connected the two.

For this capsule, the pair revisited iconic pieces. Masu’s FW21 psychedelic quilted set-up, long worn by the Okamoto brothers, was reimagined in brushed silk satin with leather piping and rare rabbit fur details, joined by a scarf and apron to complete the lineup. Each item was refined through real feedback from Solakzade’s everyday wear, blending practicality with luxury.

The eyewear centerpiece, Rhinoceros, takes inspiration from a 1960s French vintage frame once discovered at Solakzade. Though unusual at first glance, the frame’s bold front shape fits naturally on anyone. Crafted with custom twilight-hued Italian acetate, wing-shaped temples, and six-pointed star rivets, the piece balances strength with elegance. Buyers can even engrave a personal three-digit number on-site using a vintage stamping machine, ensuring each pair is truly unique.

For both sides, this project represents not only a collaboration but also the culmination of years of shared history, mutual admiration, and the belief that fashion should be experienced as much as worn.
