LA Museum’s latest online exhibition, Nana Komatsu, brings together 54 historic garments spanning the 1960s through the 2010s. Featuring selections from the “1950s–2010s History of Modern Fashion Design” exhibition, the project showcases the evolution of modern fashion across cultures—from Britain and France to Belgium, Japan, and the United States.
Instead of dressing mannequins, the exhibition features Japanese actor Nana Komatsu as the medium through which each archival piece comes to life. Captured through full 3D imaging, every garment is presented alongside Komatsu’s expressive poses, transforming her into a living embodiment of fashion history.
Photographed by E-WAX and styled by Ayaka Endo, with hair by Hayate Maeda and makeup by Asami Taguchi, the project was art-directed by Junsuke Yamasaki and book-designed by LAILA Co., Ltd. A companion photobook titled LA Museum Nana Komatsu—documenting the two-day 3D shoot held in January 2025—will be released on October 26, 2025 (JST). The cover features Komatsu in a sleeveless Pierre Cardin dress radiating a futuristic allure.
