Shinpei Yamagishi to Design for TNF Urban Exploration

The Bed j.w. Ford designer reimagines outdoor heritage through a refined urban lens for the SS26 season.

The North Face has announced that Shinpei Yamagishi, the designer of Bed j.w. Ford, will lead the design for select pieces within “The North Face Urban Exploration” starting with the Spring/Summer 2026 season. This collaboration merges the line’s focus on functional innovation with Yamagishi’s personal sensory experiences and childhood inspirations. Centered on the concept of “solitude,” the collection interprets functionality not as a loud requirement, but as a quiet, reliable part of daily life.

A standout detail is the “sleeve garter,” inspired by the reaching motions of climbing and adapted for universal tasks like rolling up sleeves for work. The debut April drop consists of six items, including skirts and women’s pieces, featuring ripstop fabrics and silhouettes influenced by children’s one-piece skiwear. The collection is scheduled to launch on April 1, 2026, at select The North Face stores in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, excluding Japan and South Korea.
