Magic House Opens in Setagaya as a Creative Hub Merging Coffee and Art

Launching in Tokyo’s Setagaya district, Magic House debuts as a multidisciplinary cafe space featuring creative direction by Darren Romanelli and museum-grade contemporary art installations.

Magic House is set to officially open on February 6, 2026, within the Colline Bajikoen complex in Setagaya, Tokyo. This new concept cafe serves as a destination where food, art, music, design, and fashion intersect, brought to life by a diverse group of creators known as “Magicians.” Under the creative direction of Los Angeles-based artist Darren Romanelli and in collaboration with Share Lounge, the space is designed to stimulate all five senses. The interior features a rotation of museum-quality works by Richard Prince, Jonas Wood, Peter Saul, and Masaomi Yasunaga, alongside significant permanent installations, including 100 tea bowls by Tom Sachs and a mural by Barry McGee.

The lifestyle experience is complemented by a premium culinary program and high-profile brand collaborations. Guests can enjoy freshly roasted coffee, desserts by pastry chef Akane Kameya, and artisanal bread from the acclaimed bakery Cupido, alongside a menu of western-style comfort food with a Tokyo sensibility. Staff uniforms and original merchandise are designed by Neighborhood, while the outdoor deck and greenery were curated by treehouse builder Takashi Kobayashi. To celebrate the opening, jazz legend Arturo Sandoval has produced an original album titled Sangu, which will be released exclusively at the venue as a vinyl record.
