Nike and Hiroshi Fujiwara Introduce Fragment Concept Testing Footwear Project

The long-standing partnership evolves with experimental interpretations of the Air Liquid Max and Mind series, blending minimal aesthetics with Nike’s latest innovations.

Nike and Hiroshi Fujiwara have unveiled the latest chapter of their partnership with a new project titled “Fragment Concept Testing.” This initiative reinterprets three of Nike’s newest silhouettes—the Air Liquid Max, Mind 001, and Mind 002—through Fujiwara’s minimal design language. Fujiwara, a collaborator since the late 1990s, stated that he felt a particularly strong presence from these specific models during the conceptual stage. “Liquid Max and Nike Mind are both very Nike-like products,” he remarked, noting the brand’s consistent dedication to creating performance footwear with the latest technology.

The collection’s centerpiece, the Air Liquid Max (¥29,700), marks the first collaborative version of this new sportswear model. It features a triple-black aesthetic with “Fragment Concept Testing” branding on the lateral side, merging 40 years of Air Max heritage with Fujiwara’s discreetly modified design. The Mind series includes the Mind 001 mule (¥13,200), contrasting a sleek black body with vibrant blue foam nodes, and the Mind 002 (¥20,900), a silhouette developed based on neuroscience. Regarding the Mind 002, Fujiwara explained his experimental approach: “I tried combining completely different materials and replacing the upper. As a result, it became a totally different sneaker that I’d want to wear in the summer.”

The Fragment Concept Testing Mind 001 and Mind 002 will receive a limited domestic release at V.A. on March 14, 2026, followed by a release on SNKRS in late March. The Air Liquid Max is scheduled for a preliminary launch at select stores on March 31, with a wider release on SNKRS starting April 3.
