Palace Skateboards will open “Palace Skateboards Fukuoka” on Saturday, October 4, marking the brand’s third flagship store in Japan following Tokyo in 2018 and Osaka in May 2025. The new location is set in Daimyo, a lively area of Chuo Ward known for boutiques, cafés, vintage shops, and nightlife.
The store design was conceived by multidisciplinary designer Steve Oh, founder of OSTVO in Seoul’s Mapo district. Drawing inspiration from two Fukuoka landmarks—the ruins of Fukuoka Castle and the Great Reclining Buddha—the space reinterprets regional heritage through Palace’s lens. A glass façade outlined by a glowing Palace sign leads inside to a brass Triferg embedded in the floor, surrounded by rugged stone and dark wood evoking the castle ruins. A Triferg-shaped ceiling light and dual video walls guide visitors toward a monumental bulldog statue, reimagined from the Reclining Buddha and set within the same stone-and-wood framework. The result is a striking fusion of local history and Palace’s bold identity.
Steve Oh has previously collaborated with nendo in Tokyo and served as design lead at Google ATAP before founding OSTVO in 2023, where he currently works as creative director.
Palace Skateboards Fukuoka opens October 4 at 11:00 JST. The store is located at 1-1-31 Daimyo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, with contact number 092-401-8108.
