Nigo Launches His First Ceramics Exhibition “Nigo and Handeishi” at Sekisui Museum

Nigo presents his first ceramics exhibition “Nigo and Handeishi” at Sekisui Museum, pairing his debut tea bowls with works by the late master potter Handeishi Kawakita in a cross-generational dialogue.

Nigo—designer and founder of Human Made—will debut his first ceramics exhibition, Nigo and Handeishi, at the Sekisui Museum in Mie Prefecture from November 15, 2025, to January 12, 2026 (JST).

The exhibition unites Nigo’s newly created tea bowls with those of the late potter Handeishi Kawakita (1878–1963), whose refined aesthetic and humble materiality defined modern Japanese ceramics. A long-time collector and admirer of Kawakita’s work, Nigo interprets the potter’s spirit through his own creative practice, exploring the balance between imperfection, restraint, and beauty.

To accompany the exhibition, a special evening event titled An Evening with the Autumn Leaves of Mount Chausu will be held on November 29 and 30 from 17:00 to 20:00 (JST), where visitors can enjoy illuminated autumn scenery along with Nigo’s personally crafted tea and sweets.

Nigo and Handeishi offers a quiet yet powerful encounter between two generations of creators—one rooted in the tradition of tea ceramics, the other in contemporary design—meeting in the timeless language of craft.
