Prada and South Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster have officially announced the release of a collaborative eyewear collection. The joint project reimagines Prada’s sophisticated design language through Gentle Monster’s characteristically creative perspective. The resulting product range features three distinct eyewear silhouettes characterized by sharp lens edges, precisely engineered front angles, and minimalist metal temples, forming a three-dimensional silhouette that shifts expression depending on the light. The capsule stands as a physical manifestation of shared brand values centered on exploration and innovation.
The commercial rollout is strictly limited to select Asian regions, encompassing Japan, South Korea, China, and Hong Kong. To mark the collection’s arrival, the creative partners have tapped Japanese actor and official Prada brand ambassador Kentaro Sakaguchi to lead the accompanying visual campaign. The concept for the promotional campaign centers on a library-themed narrative, tracing a surreal story where Sakaguchi navigates the boundary between reality and imagination while unleashing five distinct elements from his fingertips: earth, water, fire, air, and love.
The technical layout of the three eyewear designs combines precise lens shapes with sharp, three-dimensional detailing along the upper front frame. The inclusion of premium titanium temples allows for a seamless material integration of Prada’s iconic triangle logo alongside Gentle Monster’s bold, sculptural aesthetic, rounded out by exclusive capsule-specific colorways. To celebrate the retail launch, dedicated pop-up installations will open concurrently at the Gentle Monster Tokyo Aoyama boutique and Prada Aoyama, showcasing futuristic sculptures alongside giant book installations, integrated sound systems, and a thinking robot.
