Vans and Yusuke Hanai Unveil Capsule with Eco-Conscious Details

Vans teams up with Japanese artist Yusuke Hanai for a capsule inspired by 1950s–70s surf and counterculture. The collection drops May 29, with a Harajuku launch party on May 28 featuring giveaways and music.

Vans teams up with acclaimed Japanese artist Yusuke Hanai for a Spring/Summer 2025 capsule influenced by 1950s–70s surf and counterculture. Fusing West Coast nostalgia with refined Japanese aesthetics, the collection reflects Hanai’s philosophy of steady progress through everyday steps, embodied in the “One Foot In Front Of The Other” message printed on the Premium Old Skool. The shoe features a soft grey colorway dubbed “Stormy Weather,” with original artwork by Hanai, hand-drawn-style stripes, and playful foxing details. The capsule also includes T-shirts, shorts, caps, and a reversible tote, all featuring Hanai’s signature illustrations. Emphasizing sustainability, the collection uses organic cotton, recycled polyester, and a high-rebound SOLA FOAM ADC insole made with 30% bio-based materials. A launch event will be held at Vans Store Harajuku on May 28, offering early access, a live set by Texas 3000, and signed postcards for the first 50 customers. The full collection drops May 29 at Vans’ website, Vans stores, BEAMS, BILLY’S, and select stockists.
