Beams Plus and British brand Studio Nicholson have unveiled their first collaboration, a capsule collection that bridges refined tailoring and Japanese craftsmanship. Since its founding in London’s Shoreditch in 2010, Studio Nicholson has focused on elevating everyday garments into a modular wardrobe. For this project, founder and creative director Nick Wakeman collaborated with Beams Plus director Hideki Mizobata, drawing inspiration from their shared love of film characters.
The theme, “Lessons from the Silver Screen,” references iconic figures such as Columbo, George Peppard in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Diane Keaton’s Annie Hall. These influences are expressed in garments that conjure cinematic scenes and timeless archetypes. Studio Nicholson’s dedication to fabric quality and modern classic tailoring merges with Beams Plus’ heritage-driven approach and meticulous attention to Japanese craft. The result is a 21-piece Made in Japan collection that balances signature silhouettes with world-class textiles.
Key pieces include the voluminous “PETER” trench coat in water-repellent gabardine twill, lined with a check pattern nodding to Beams Plus’ Ivy heritage. The “PAUL” blazer and “ALVY” double-pleat trousers are offered in tropical wool, corduroy, and sturdy cotton twill, while the “HOLLY” wide-leg denim jeans are woven on shuttle looms in Okayama. The collection also features oversized shirts such as the “LISA,” modern loopback cotton sweats like the “GOLIGHTLY,” and accessories including the “ANNIE” tie.
The Studio Nicholson × Beams Plus capsule will be released in Japan on September 19 at Beams Plus Marunouchi, Beams’ official online store, and Studio Nicholson locations in Aoyama and Shibuya PARCO, as well as the brand’s official site. In the UK, the collection launches a day earlier, on September 18, at Studio Nicholson stores.
