Uniqlo has announced a new collaboration with Needles, the brand designed by Nepenthes founder Keizo Shimizu. Together they present a fleece collection that merges Uniqlo’s innovation in LifeWear with the distinctive sensibility and foresight of Needles.
The collection emphasizes refined details within a minimalist framework, resulting in fleece pieces that balance simplicity with character. Offered in a palette of black, grey, beige, and purple, the line includes fleece jackets inspired by vintage garments, cardigans available in plain and striped versions featuring Needles’ signature patterns adapted to Uniqlo’s fit, and wide-leg pants accented with tonal side tape for an elegant silhouette.
Keizo Shimizu reflected on the collaboration, noting that since establishing Nepenthes in 1988 and Needles in 1995, he has continuously shared his vision from Tokyo’s Jingumae to the world. He described the partnership as an opportunity to add Needles’ iconic butterfly motif and silhouettes to Uniqlo’s classic fleece, creating timeless yet contemporary items.
The collection will be released on October 31, 2025, at Uniqlo stores nationwide and online. Prices range from ¥3,990 (tax included) for oversized cardigans and wide pants to ¥4,990 (tax included) for fleece jackets. Online pre-orders will be available from October 10 to 16, with deliveries scheduled between October 24 and 31. This collaboration introduces a genderless take on fleece that unites practicality, elegance, and the unique aesthetic of Needles.
